Free Birds

Andy’s images of birds are incredibly popular. At first I didn’t understand this – a Hitchcockian hangover perhaps – but several people explained to me why this is. It boils down to this – birds represent freedom. The more I think about it, the most correct that is.

A bird on the ground can take off at any moment. He (or she of course!) can decide where to fly or he can drift on air currents and let the wind decide. I can imagine primitive man looking at birds and being so envious of their ability. I think that everyone aspires to a little more freedom these days. Freedom from their job, freedom from money worries, freedom to be themselves … and the birds represent that.

Some of the images in the Free Bird series are color and some are black and white. We’ve chosen a monochrome example here. It shows the freedom beautifully. The bird is poised to fly into the light of the rising sun.

As with all our example images, we have included a link so that you can send a free e-card of this image. If you’re an interior designer, you may want to email it to your clients who are looking for artwork.  Or if you’re looking for artwork for your home, send it to you partner and say “This is the one I want!” :)

Here are a few examples of how the artwork can look in various framing styles.
