I do enjoy it when I see destinations making the most of what’s happening in the news. To the shock of many people in other countries, but to the amusement of people in the UK, someone recently took cellphone photographs of Prince Harry naked in a hotel room in Vegas.

Come on Fort Lauderdale. A huge events company has recently evaluated over one thousand cities to determine a top fifty list. Where are the best places to hold your meeting, conference or event?

Surely Fort Lauderdale is high on the list, if not in the lead?

Destination culture

Most people have aspirations. Most of us like to think that we’re probably just a little bit more cultured than the next person, right? Well, it depends on your definition of culture, of course. But in the last year or so, the City of London has certainly made the most of its culture when it comes to destination marketing.

Not quite six million ideas …

OK, it serves me right, If I will go round saying things like ‘that gives me six million ideas for promotion’ then someone is bound to ask me for some of them, right? OK, my fault. I’ll know better next time.  Well, I’m not going to write all six million, that would take, oh, at least an hour, but I can manage a few.

The Olympics and promotions

Hopefully your promotions that are centered around next month’s Olympic Games are well under way but here are some words of caution. I was typing the above and thought ‘can I use the word Olympic?’ Do you think I’ve gone mad? Well possibly, but nevertheless, be careful.
